The SOPHOS project successfully concluded its final review on March 25. Consortium partners gathered at the lead partner’s DSI premises in Bremen to finalize the project with a live demonstration of the system. As thousands of satellites now orbit Earth, generating ever-growing amounts of data from applications like Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), the demand for […]
DLR attended EUSAR 2026 and presented the SOPHOS project through a poster highlighting its key results. The project demonstrates a powerful and efficient on-board processing solution for future SAR missions, combining advanced computing, data compression, and high-capacity storage. By validating the complete system at TRL6, SOPHOS proves that faster, low-latency data processing in orbit can […]

The SOPHOS project consortium is celebrating another review meeting hosted by partner DSI Aerospace GmbH in Bremen. The productive event confirmed that the project is mainly progressing on schedule and received good feedback from the reviewers. While some parts of the project experienced delays, the project is now commencing towards the final integration and demonstration. […]
DSI attended the 15th IAA Symposium on Small Satellites for Earth System Observation (SSEO), taking place in Berlin. Hosted by DLR and TU Berlin, this conference offers a valuable forum to exchange insights on missions, objectives and technology in the small satellite and cube sat field. Maike Taddiken presented our work on a high-performance Mass […]
Right after Easter, the SOPHOS project initiated the integration of the PPM and the EGSE at DSI’s premises in Bremen. The initial tests were successful, now we’re looking forward to doing more integration and testing at the end of May when we meet for the next Review Meeting.
Organized and hosted by HaDEA in Brussels, the SOPHOS project attended a workshop to discuss progress with other EU-funded projects. The SOPHOS project was represented, and presented, by Maike Taddikken (DSI) and Mathias Persson (Unibap). It was a great event to get feedback on the SOPHOS project, find collaborations with other projects and partners, and […]
The SOPHOS Team made a strong presence at the Space Tech Expo in Bremen, where our partners engaged in dynamic Q&A sessions about the project. There was a fantastic turnout of attendees, and they brought insightful questions! Unibap and DSI seized the opportunity to create a datasheet for their combined offering to distribute at […]
Exciting updates from the SOPHOS project! We recently gathered for an engaging Interim Review Meeting, hosted at Unibap’s facilities in Uppsala, Sweden. The main topic of the meeting was to decide on critical details for the demonstrator to be built during the spring. With our goals aligned and a clear path ahead, we’re excited to […]
The SOPHOS project has completed the first periodic review! The project has made good progress in the first 18 months, which was reflected in the reviewers’ positive comments. The project will continue to work towards addressing the critical comments, which were well justified and helpful, in the coming months. A big thanks to the European […]
